Toast and Square reports to check daily
Your POS already has the numbers. The trick is opening the same two reports every morning and knowing what to look for. Menu names change from time to time, so search your POS help if something has moved.
Toast
- Sales Summary (Toast Web > Reports > Sales Summary, set to yesterday): net sales, orders, discounts, comps, voids.
- Labor Summary (Reports > Labor): hours and labor cost by role.
- Product Mix (weekly): what sells and what doesn't. Use it for par levels and waste.
Square
- Sales Summary (Dashboard > Reports > Sales Summary, yesterday): gross and net sales, discounts, refunds.
- Labor vs. Sales (Reports, on plans that include it), or Team > Timecards for hours.
- Item Sales (weekly): your best and worst sellers.
Clover
- Sales Overview (Dashboard > Reports) and Employee Hours under Employees.
What to look for
- Net sales versus the same weekday last week
- Labor % against your target
- Discounts and comps % (a spike is worth a look)
- Voids and refunds (a few is normal; a pattern isn't)
- Average ticket trend
